Representatives from J Sweeney Accountants took part in the Northampton Half Marathon on Sunday, raising over £1,500 for their Kelly’s Heroes charity fundraiser.
The team, including Director James Sweeney, completed the 13.1-mile course which loops around Northampton Town Centre, taking in The Racecourse, Abington Park, the University of Northampton and even travelling past the iconic Sixfields and Franklin’s Gardens stadiums.
The team were running in support of Kelly’s Heroes, a mental health and suicide prevention charity to help raise funds for their vital services. Friends, family and business associates have helped to raise upwards of £1,500 worth of donations, and there’s still time to help the team reach their goal of raising an incredible £2,000 towards their chosen charity, simply head to the GoFundMe page to donate.
James commented on his team’s achievement:
“I’m so proud of the huge effort the team put into training for and completing this major athletic challenge. The money raised will be a huge help to Kelly’s Heroes and have a massive impact on the lives of those dealing with mental health issues and families affected by suicide.”
Kelly’s Heroes provides invaluable services to those bereaved by suicide. This includes running groups, retreats and counselling for affected families. They also provide awareness training to workplaces and schools to help the wider community be better informed on mental health issues, helping to support those suffering and instructing on how to have conversations that can save lives.
The charity also provides services to those experiencing suicidal ideation and mental health issues. These include live chats and counselling services that allow people to access the support they need within days of an initial referral. Services like these are so important, especially considering that mental health support on the NHS often has months long waiting lists.
Donations are so important to ensure that the service can continue to run and provide services that can save lives.
