Donations are vital to keep their services running and helping those who need crucial support. The team from J Sweeney entering the half marathon will be putting themselves to the test to fundraise their goal of £2,000 for the charity as they race around the town from Abington to St James and back.
Kelly’s Heroes
Kelly’s Heroes provides a range of services to those at risk of suicide. This includes operating live chat services with trained listeners who can offer in the moment support to de-escalate situations, as well as providing assessments and counselling to people within days of an initial referral. These charity operated services are vital to preventing suicide. There are often months-long waits for mental health support on the NHS.
Charities like Kelly’s Heroes provide an important lifeline to those suffering, as well as supporting over 1000 families bereaved by suicide through bereavement groups and peer support, as well as counselling. The charity also hosts awareness training in schools and workplaces to reduce the stigma around suicide, raise awareness of early warning signs and learn skills in Mental Health First Aid that can help people have difficult but necessary conversations about this difficult subject and intervene if necessary.
A donation of any size will make a huge impact. The J Sweeney team would like to thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to us.
Those interested can donate on GoFundMe or join us on the marathon.
